My sister and her family are moving from the sunny state of Florida to Utah!! They started their drive last week and stopped in Oklahoma this past weekend and spent some time with me and Corbin. I loved having them here and it made me want to live closer to family. Who knows...maybe once Corbin is done with residency we will be able to live near some of his family or my family. That would be a great day:) We had a great time and I hated to see them leave, but I'm so glad we got to see them and enjoy being with one another.

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Corbin had to work Thursday and I was so excited that he was able to get off early. He was home by 3:00! It was a miracle. I think the doctors had pity on the poor residents. I didn't want him to miss the best meal I have ever had. It was sooo good and well worth every bite I took:)

happy halloween!!
I love Halloween...and I love it when people get into it and dress up. We went to our annual church trunk or treat/fall festival and I was surprised on how many adults dressed up. I loved it. Same thing happened at my work party. Everyone dressed up. This is the one time of year that you can dress up and be anything you want!! We went to a Halloween party last night at a residents house and it was awesome. I haven't been to a party like that in a long time. It was great getting together and having a good time.

Happy (late) Birthday Corbin
It's not that I have been too busy, because I definitely have not been. It's because Corbin decided he wanted to have a "birthday week" instead of the traditional birthday "day." During his "birthday week" he decided he would be able to make ALL the final decisions and have everything go HIS way. At first I thought sure...why not? Until I tried to pipe in and give a suggestion and Corbin would say " Amy...it's MY birthday." That got very old, very fast. Once his birthday week was over, I realized I am pretty spoiled. Corbin sacrifices a lot of things he likes to please me and to make me happy. He is always thinking about me and always makes me a priority. What girl wouldn't want that? Even though he is so busy with work and is being pulled in too many directions, He always makes time for me, which makes me feel so loved and appreciated. Happy late Birthday Corbin. Now....... who wants to take a stab at how old he is?

Happy Birthday Mom
Today is my moms birthday. I asked how old she was when I talked to her today and she said she is a "speed limit" now. She is 55. I have the best mom and wish I lived closer. Maybe one day my mom and dad will want to move out to the west and join their other kids. Even though it's been several years since I've lived at home, I still get homesick and miss being with my family and eating my moms homemade southern food.
One of the things I really love about my mom is her ability to know when something is wrong. There have been many times that she has called me at the exact moment that I needed to talk to her. She offers her council and advice, but not without it going on my never ending tab:) She says one of these days she is going to start charging for her services. She would make some good money since there are five kids in the family.
I love my mom to pieces and can't imagine being on this earth without her. Thank goodness familes are forever.

Bread
Who doesn't love homemade bread? It's been a goal of mine to learn how to make a good loaf of bread, so last weekend I had a friend show me some of her recipes and gave me some great pointers on how to make some fantastic bread. I was definitely having some problems before and my bread always turned out to be these small round loaves that would be more suited as "bread bowls" then sliced bread. Now with a few trial runs I think I am really close to making a good loaf! My next challenge..........sewing. We will see. What do you want to be better at?

Twins
So have you ever gotten up in the morning and end up wearing the exact same thing as your spouse or child?? That's what happened this morning for church. I left for church earlier than Corbin and when I saw him there I couldn't help but smile. I said "Did you plan this?" Then he looked down at his shirt and said "This was the first shirt I put my hands on."
Then I saw my friend Jamie Nackos who happened to be wearing the same outfit as well. A blue jean skirt and same color blue top. She must have been able to read my mind this morning. Pretty bizarre day at church. If you noticed that you and your spouse were wearing the same thing would you go and change or enjoy being twins?

Oklahoma Fair
There is something about going to the fair that is so fun to me. Besides the fact that EVERYTHING is way over priced I really enjoy going every year and it's that time again. We went on $2.00 day, so it was little more crowded , but it was still worth it. Last year I wanted to get the turkey leg, but couldn't bring myself to pay $7.50, but this year I splurged and got it. Corbin got the Indian Taco salad and immediately I wished I had gotten that. Oh well there is always next year. One of my favorite things I got to try was the fried snicker bar. Use your imagination, but it was really good. They had everything from fried snickers, oreos and even twinkees. Pretty much everything that is bad for you is made 10x's worse for you by dunking it in grease. It was awesome:)
It was a great night at the fair and Corbin even put aside planning for his presention for a night of great food and fun! What a guy....

Prank
As I walked out the door to go to church today I realized something was different on our pathway...there was a toilet sitting in our front yard. I was a little taken back and wondered what the deal was. I walked over to see if there were any clues left to the little surprise and there was a note taped on top. I thought it was pretty funny and laughed and then thought...how do I get rid of a toilet?? Apparently this toilet has been floating from house to house in the ward and I was the next victim. I found out who did it, but I need a good prank to play back on this person. Any ideas??

Fishing for...Sharks?
Two of my favorite things to do is going to the beach and fishing, which were two things I got to do while in Florida visiting my family. We were having really good luck and were pulling them in left and right. My sister felt a bite on her line and reeled it in. To our surprise she had caught a small sand shark. How many of you can say you've done that?? She was pretty excited. My dad was excited too even though she out did him that day:)

Arizona
My sister-in-law Mayra, just graduated from Nursing School and I flew down to Arizona to be with her and Corbin's family. What an accomplishment!! I am so proud her and can only imagine how hard it was. I admire her determination and dedication. It was so nice being there with everyone and spending time with eachother.....even if it was 114 degrees:) I'm not sure if I could ever live in Arizona, but it was nice to be near family again.

Corbin was on T.V!!
CNN requested videos of anyone who wanted to ask Mitt Romney questions. Of course Corbin wanted to. We sent in a video and CNN called Corbin the next day saying there was a 50% chance they would use his video. They aired the show at 5:00 yesterday and they used Corbin! We both missed it, but it's on the internet and wanted to show you alll. If you want to fast forward to where Corbin is it starts at 3:12. We were so excited.

Gator Time
I just wanted to brag about my dad for a second. He sent me this cool picture today and I wanted to share it with all of you. Gators are pretty plentiful in Florida, so they are basically in any body of water. That's one of the reasons I've never swam in a lake while living there. I was really too scared. He was pretty brave to take care of this gator while working one night. He's gets called to do some crazy stuff. Who would have thought a cop would have to take care of an alligator? Way to go Dad!

Tornado Weather
There was a really bad storm today and there was another tornado that touched down close to our house and the sirens were going off. I was really scared because I'm still not used to it I suppose. I had just got home from work and Corbin was stuck at the gym. They wouldn't let anyone leave. The video below is footage of a stream that is across the street from our house and it was turned into a river because of all the rain. The news reported 124 mph winds in the area of our home and the path the news was tracking crossed right above our home, but did not touch down in our direct area. A few weeks ago a tornado touched down a mile from our home. Just another day for those from Oklahoma.

Surgery by Dr. "C"
This may be a little gross to some, but still wanted to post it because this is my life as a wife to a resident. I had this mole on my arm near my armpit that kept bleeding and cracking. I don't think you can even see it in this picture unless you click on it and make it bigger. Anyway....it was really small, but annoying. Corbin decided to bring home some tools to take it off for me. I was excited not to have to pay a copay and to give Corbin some more practice.
I was brave, but still really nervous when I saw the needle. Corbin said I wasn't the best patient :) I wasn't very cooperative because I kept trying to watch what he was doing. Warning...you may see some blood. It didn't take very long since it was so small. This is a picture of me all stitched up.
The finished product...no more mole!!! Corbin did a great job. I realized I really hate needles. I don't even like having my blood taken. Who is nervous of needles?

Camping
This weekend Corbin and I went to Arcadia Lake in Edmond and went camping. We had such a great time and got the best spot right on the lake. There were some guys wakeboarding, so we got a front row seat. We got pretty lucky to get the spot because usually it is always taken. We had foil dinners that we made in the fire. This is one of our favorite things. Foil dinners always taste better when made outside. We cooked Corbin's a little too long, so the potatoes and carrots were a little chared around the edges, but still super good.
Another one of our favorite things when camping is roasting marsh mellows. Corbin found the best stick this time. It was pretty long. We loved camping in California and are excited we found a great spot 15 minutes from our house. Who likes to go camping with their family? We hope to do this even when we have kids. Corbin said he loved going camping when he was little. We want to keep the tradition going:) It was a fun and relaxing weekend, but we sure miss our camping buddies though:)

Happy Birthday Dennis Harline
Yesterday was Corbin's dads birthday. He would have been 65. We made spice cake with cream cheese icing....oh so good. Grandma Dodie makes it better, but we were still satisfied. I didn't have candles, so we used toothpicks....Let's just say not the smartest idea and of course it was mine:) When Corbin blew out the candles, (toothpicks) white ashes got all over the cake and filled the air. It was funny. At church Corbin spoke, so he wore a tie his dad gave him and also tied in some great personal experience he had with his dad growing up. It was really good. His dad would have been proud. It was a good day celebrating.

Time out for Women
This past Friday and Saturday a group of us went to Time out for Women. This was my first time going and I'm really glad I went. I kind of dragged my feet about going, but I had a very persistent friend remind me to sign up. It was very uplifting. It made me want to go to education week this summer, but we'll have to see.
On Monday morning around 3am I got really sick. Nothing was staying down. The last time I felt this bad was in Utah last year. (Remember how fun that was Britt?) I slept pretty much all day until I got a phone call from a friend who had gone with us to Time out for Women. She said she and another friend that was with us were both sick too and got sick around the same time that morning. Weird?? We all ate Subway on Saturday and wonder if it was our food. All I know is that I'm having second thoughts about having Subway any time soon.

A New Heart
A few weeks ago the hospital Corbin works at started placing mechanical hearts in patients who have heart failure. This is the only hospital in Oklahoma that performs this surgery and one of the only hospitals in the U.S. Corbin was able to assist during the first procedure done at this hospital and was part of a news conference afterwords. This was really exciting to me, but of course Corbin didn't mention it to me until weeks later:) I like how serious Corbin looks. I would love to be invisable and go to work with him and see first hand what he really does.

Spring is Here
I'm so excited to finally have spring in Oklahoma. We have tulips and I had no idea. I didn't see them last year, but I'm not complaining for having them! I love feeling warm. I love going outside without a jacket and without getting chill bumps. This kind of weather makes me want to re-landscape our yard. Plant new flowers or bushes and spread some mulch. These thoughts bring back good memories of helping my dad mow lawns year round in Florida. At the time it wasn't my favorite thing to do, but I love the memories I created with my dad. I always think of him when I smell a newly cut lawn. I love that smell. Happy Spring.

Softball
Thursday was Corbin's first softball game of the season. He was so excited. He checked the weather so many times before the game to make sure it wasn't going to rain. It was perfect weather. He had nothing to worry about.
Corbin did really good batting and in the outfield, but then again he's good at anything he does. I can't say the same about some of the other players, but everyone was having a good time. He had 3 doubles and had 5 base hits in 6 at bats. They lost their first game and won the second.
Why is it that the Harline men have to show off in front of their wives?? This "wound" (in Corbin's words) is the result of him diving for a ball in the outfield that left him with scraps and a hurt thumb, but all is well in the Harline home. He loves softball so much and loves being on a team again. He can't wait until next Thursday even if he is a "wounded solider."

GREAT GAME
Today was a beautiful day in Oklahoma! Since the time change this past weekend, Corbin and I decided to play some tennis after work. We started warming up some and I felt pretty good with my swing. We started playing a game. Since Corbin is so much better than me we have a special version we play. Corbin has to win 4 points and I have to win 2. First one to win 6 games or win by two. Sometimes I feel that Corbin hits them out on purpose to keep the game close and so I can feel good about myself, but today everytime he hit it out he said "dang it", which mean he wasn't doing it on purpose. I was feeling really good about myself. I was in the lead 4 to 2. He told me I wasn't going to win anymore games. Corbin came back winning three games in a row putting the score at 5 to 4. I was pretty nervous, but couldn't let the comments he was making get to me. He would say things like..."Last point...Pressures on." Anything to distract me. He has done this before and I always lose. I remained focused and came back to win it all 7 to 5. I was so excited because Corbin is soooooo good. I have never beat him before. He is so fun to play with because I know I am getting better since he plays at a higher level.I was so proud of myself and had to share this great news with everyone else. I told Corbin I was going to write this on our blog and he said I had to make sure I explained the way WE play so there wasn't any confusion:)

Birthday
We celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago and Corbin took me to my favorite restuarant RED LOBSTER. I ordered my favorite meal....LOBSTER PIZZA. This is not Corbin's favorite place to eat, but since I was the birthday girl I got to choose.
My favorite gift Corbin got me was my tennis skirt. I was so excited. I helped him pick it out before Christmas thinking that's when I would get it. Little did I know he was buying it and putting it back until my birthday. Pretty sneaky. It was hard to wait, but I guess I need to practice a little more patience!
